Spent really long time with the vet today trying to find out what's the best way to fix Honeybun's conditions.
Did a scrape tape test, he has very very high level of yeast, pollen and Bacteria on his skin.
Ears checked and clearly he has infection.
We really need to find out exactly what he is allergic to so we can
stop him having these nasty rashes and infections all the time.
The
vet recommended the Idexx Allergy Elias which cover 48 allergens.
And
allergen blood test which covers the food side. Just these 2 tests cost a
bit over $1000. The total bill so far costed me $1836.
This is part of the reason why you need money if you want a dog, especially a Newfoundland.
The vet said once the test results comes back in about a month, we will
know what to do to treat whatever he is allergic to, the professor will
provide solution if there is one.
Lucky we brought insurance, it covers $1500 of this bill.
Looks like I got to reduce my shopping and eat less now .
It is going to take a month to know the results, now I have to stop all
sugar, carbohydrate and dairy related food, just in case if he is
allergic to yeast or dairy!
